First Video! Melississipi goes to MAC

Today I went to MAC!  I'm not huge into MAC, but I do like their makeup.  I actually think some of their makeup is cheaper than other brands I love (i.e Benefit and Nars).  My friend Jenna is the one who has tons of MAC stuff.

So, I went into MAC hoping they had the Lady Gaga lipstick in (last time they were out I believe), and they did!  I was super excited because I really wanted to try it out.  It's a really pretty baby pink color, sort of sheer.  Then, I checked out a lipliner from the To The Beach collection (which btw they were soldout of more than half the collection--it was really popular).  It's pink also.  It's called life's a breeze.  I really like it because it almost blends with my natural lip color.  The last thing I picked up was actually something I spotted at the register.  It was a tinted lip conditioner with SPF 15 called petting pink.  It's very sheer with just a hint of rose color.  It's very light.

So, that's what I got today at MAC, and the video is of the products.

All products can be purchased at MAC stores and online.

V. I .B

"What is V.I.B?" you're wondering.  Well, it's a very exclusive, highly coveted beauty rewards program from Sephora (insert laughter here).  As you may know, Sephora has what they called a beauty insider card.  Well, V.I.B (very important beauty insider--really) is their VIP level.  It also means you spend too much money in Sephora (haha).  I didn't even know it existed until I was shopping earlier with my boyfriend and I was ringing out at Sephora.  I'm very excited mostly because this upgrade comes with a coupon.

I didn't get much at all today at Sephora...(I was good), but I did get this very cute set from Urban Decay which comes with 4 eyeshadows, a liner, and their eyeshadow primer potion in Sin.  The set is called Summer of Love.
This set contains:

- 4 x 0.04 oz Eyeshadows: Flash (bright iridescent purple sheen), Maui Wowie (sandy colored sheen), Chopper (shimmering fawn with sparkles), and Smog (deep coppery bronze)

- 0.13 oz Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin (shimmering champagne)

- 0.03 oz 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Bourbon (glimmering dark brown)

(*the above was copied from the website description so I got everything right)

I just got a chance to briefly try out the shadows and they're really nice.  I actually have the pencil in the same color.  Their liners are great.  Glide on nicely and stay on pretty well.  I've used the original primer potion and I love it, so I'm sure this one will be great, too.  Summer of Love was $29.

I also picked up some kind of gorgeous from Benefit...I am OBSESSED with Benefit!  I love this product and I was about to pick up the regular size when we were headed to the register and I noticed a smaller travel size (but still a good size) for $9.  I decided since I don't desperately need the full size that I'd go with the smaller one.  It's nice they have a smaller one to give you the option.

Oops I did it again

So I decided to try Ooh La Lift from benefit. It's an under eye product to get rid of that tired look that I sport oh so well. It's a pink color, but it goes on very translucent. It's supposed to make it look like you got an eye lift. I really like this product because I like anything that brightens the eye area, especially the under eye area. I tend to get dark circles. My boyfriend says he doesn't see it even when I don't have makeup on, but I definitely do and I think this product works nicely.

Another great product from Benefit I've tried is eye bright. It's an eye brightening pencil. You can also use it to put on where dark circles are before concealer. I actually got this great kit a few months ago called confessions of a concealaholic (I probably spelled that wrong...oops) and it comes with a bunch of great ways to make your eyes bright and look like you got 8 hours of sleep. It includes eye bright, lemon aid (a yellow corrector), that gal primer and skin brightener, boi-ing in two colors, and erase paste in number 2. This kit is amazing! If you have issues with anything you want to cover up I definitely recommend this prodcut! It's also from Benefit.

I also picked up a pointed eyeliner brush. I have this one from Smashbox that came with a set of their cream liners a few years ago, and I like it, but it's straight and I wanted a finer point. I got the Sephora brand liner brush. Since it's pointed it's easy to apply in corners. Lately I've only been wearing a little bit of eyeliner, and it's been in the corners only. I tried it with my smashbox cream liner in caviar and I really liked it! I believe it was only around $15.

And believe it or not, I'm planning on heading to Sephora tomorrow, but I told my boyfriend I'm going to have him hold onto my debit card so he has to approve all purchases tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. :)

Blame it on the boyfriend

So I was at the mall with my boyfriend, intending to behave, and we went into Old Navy so he could check out swim shorts. Well, he egged me on and encouraged me to look for bikinis and pursuaded me to buy a cute jacket which I really didn't need. Clearly this is all his fault.

In both of our defense, Old Navy was having a MASSIVE sale-- 30 % off whole store! I did get 2 bikinis and a pair of yellow flip flops to match (seriously the flip flops were $2). Then I got 2 white shirts for work, an incredibly comfy pair of linen pants, and a jacket which my boyfriend convinced me to get. It is really cute though. No single item was over $14 so that's pretty good. He got some shorts, a polo shirt and 2 hoodies...and a pair of flip flops too.

Note to self: do not go shopping with the boyfriend, he is a bad influence (lol).

Afternoon shopping with the boyfriend

Obviously I was thrilled when my boyfriend Colin asked me to go shopping for shorts with him. He was prepared to check out Walmart first but his brother mentioned how he found great deals at Kohl's, so we went there.

Ok, I love Kohl's. They have cute things and they aren't expensive. He found a bunch of shorts that were under $20 each. I approved of all pairs. So, I had to check out some things for myself as well. I got this super cute pinstripe vest and it was on sale for under $14! It's great cause I can wear it out and can wear it to work. Then I got this really cute pair of sandals for $10. They are gold or bronze and the thong part is a blue color. I also got a white button down top for work. The last thing I got is something I was hoping to try out this summer-- it's a romper. It's a cute floral romper and the top half is sleeveless. I asked Colin if it looked good and he said yes, and I trust his opinion-- afterall, he did pick me. Lol.

So we both ended up spending just around $50 for everything we got (mine was slightly less and our purchases were seperate). I definitely recommend Kohl's for afforable summer clothes shopping.

Ask and you shall receive

I am the proud owner of the beauty to go: stay put set by benefit! So, I was told several times that this product wouldn't be available for a few weeks (and even told they might not get it in) and then today I asked again just for the hell of it. The guy double checked and looked again anyway and there they were in the drawer! I was so happy I hugged him (yes, I am a little bit crazy). So I promised I'd gove him a shout out-- thank you Eric at the Sephora around 17th and Chestnut. You were extremely helpful.

So, the set comes with a small size of stay don't stray concealer primer, rsvp cream shadow, and erase paste concealer in shade number 2.

But this is a shopaholic blog so the fun didn't end with the $10 benefit set (although if my paycheck wasn't so awesome it may have had to). Since I do love benefit and I wanted a shimmery eye shadow I picked up one really sheer shimmery one called bikini line. It's one of their velvety shadows and it was $18. Then I decided to see about the Nars cream blush I've been lusting after called enchanted. It was $26 and is a shimmery, somewhat glittery light apricot color.

Beauty Thief

So I am guilty of taking my mom's stay don't stray primer/concealer from benefit. In my defense, for some strange reason, she's not as in love with it as I am. I tried it on at Sephora and I loved it! I haven't purchased it because Sephora is featuring it in a $10 minis kit, so I'm waiting. In the meantime I have settled for "borrowing" my moms. Again, in my defense, she steals my stuff too.

In addition, I started off the day with Nars lipgloss in Turkish Delight. Nars is another of my favs.

YouTube--check out fellow shopaholic's video

Hey everyone! Please check out my friend Jenna's video on YouTube. She talks about MAC prodcuts and lots of other stuff.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

So, I will admit I am ADDICTED to Sephora! Today I went to Sephora and really didn't need anything-- but that didn't stop me (oops). I was first interested in this set of nail files from the tokidoki line. I actually never heard of that line before the other day when I was watching a YouTube video on a sephora haul. They are really cute! Only $10, comes with 3 and a case to put it in. I vote it is well worth the 10 bucks.

Then the sales girl showed me this adorable mini bronzer and I was like, "Where can I find that?". She showed me. It was part of a bronzer kit with products from different lines they carry. It's called Sephora Favorites: Best in Bronze Deluxe Sampler. The product she showed me was the Lorac Tantastic bronzer in golden bronze. There are 10 products in this sampler! It also comes with the very popular Too Faced pink leopard bronzer. I actually have the full sized one. It's $39 and the sizes are great for traveling! I haven't got a chance to really try them yet. Oh, and it also includes high beam from benefit (FYI benefit is one of my favorites!).

You can find this kit on sephora's website under new/exclusives on under the makeup link.

For the nail file kit you can search tokidoki on sephora's website.

I'll write reviews soon!
